ABG Installs has been announced as the winner of another prestigious BALI award, this time for a residential extensive green roof project in the stunning Lake District location of Ambleside. The distinctive curved roof design features a 20mm thick ABG Roofdrain geocomposite layer to drain the vegetation and growing media.
The layer provides a combined drainage function to prevent oversaturation of growing media during spells of wet weather (which is most of the year in this part of the country!) and the small cuspates also act as a reservoir / water storage board during periods of warmer weather.
Since the majority of the roof design features a steep sloping pitch, a geogrid (Trigrid EX40/40) and a geocell (Erosaweb GWX 75/300) stabilisation system was fixed in place above the drainage board to retain the depth of substrate. New sedum matting containing 16 sedum plant species was then installed onto the substrate to complete the installation. The latest award win follows on from the team winning a BALI Principal Award in 2021 for the Leeds Skelton Lake Green Roof project (https://abg-geosynthetics.com/company/news-archive/leeds-skelton-lake-services-wildflower-green-roof-wins-bali-principal-award/).
