Ciria Susdrain SuDS Award Nomination

ABG are delighted to have been shortlisted for the susdrain SuDS Awards in the “Large Scale New Build” category for our blue roof stormwater attenuation system at Rathbone Market, London.

Rathbone Market is located in a densely built area of London and restrictions on outflow rates to sewers from the building demanded high attenuation.  The original design for attenuating water following a storm event involved discharging to tanks buried under the ground, however, as well as being expensive, construction space at ground level was at a premium.  Buried tanks would not only take up valuable space, but also interfere with below ground services.

ABG introduced the idea of utilising the flat roof space to take in the stormwater storage and discharge requirements using our blueroof system which not only took into account the parapet threshold heights but also the BREEAM requirements for biodiversity enhancement with landscaped and biodiverse finishes to attract wildlife.
