Delivery big carbon savings in Melton Mowbray

The new Melton Mowbray Distributor Road is a 7.1km bypass under construction to the North and East of the town of Melton Mowbray. The Leicestershire County Council road scheme is being built by Galliford Try to relieve congestion through the town and provide new housing and development opportunities in the area.

ABG’s Fildrain is being installed as a starter layer for new embankments on the project. By significantly reducing the volume of 6C drainage stone deliveries required, the installation of a thin and lightweight geocomposite alternative is calculated to save an impressive 5,880 ton of CO2!

This is equivalent to approximately one week’s carbon emissions from the wider borough of Melton, or 10,000 return passenger flights to Munich.
