The former Oaks shopping centre in Acton, West London, will provide 178 apartments and 42,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
Working with Osel Architecture, CJ O’Shea and Cawston Specialist Roofing ABG provided a design for 11 blueroofs across the site, including 5 podiums, meeting the SuDS criteria given. The blueroof was designed to a 1 in 100 year storm event and was required to be backed by NHBC approval.
The ABG blueroof system is used to provide temporary attenuation of stormwater, and restrict the rate that water enters the wider drainage system, as part of a Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS). The ABG blueroof system has the ability to provide a SuDS attenuation solution for a new or retrofit development. The drainage/attenuation layers are specifically designed with enhanced water storage capacity, and the discharge is controlled using our patented outlet.
An ABG blueroof means the stormwater attenuation requirements are met within the roof or podium build-up, and therefore the need for expensive underground storage or other SuDS processes can be reduced or eliminated.
In addition to the blueroofs ABG also installed 5 green roof areas and several paved terraces. The podium finishes were by others.
