ABG and our installation partners Geogreen are proud to have delivered many high profile and innovative green roof projects in recent years, so ahead of the inaugural World Green Roof Day #WGRD2020 on the 6th June, we are sharing our top 10 favourite installations!
The list features a variety of green roof designs – from intensive, extensive and biodiverse and building types from domestic and commercial to new build and retrofit, with flat and pitched roofs. Each project highlights the myriad ways green roofs benefit the environment, including adding a natural aesthetic to urban landscapes (greening the grey), encouraging local biodiversity, reducing the heat island effect and improving air quality, controlling rainwater run off as part of a #SuDS solution and delivering improvements in acoustic and thermal performance.
ABG and Geogreen specialise in delivering the full combination of green roof components; including insulation, storage systems and void formers (blue roof systems), drainage & reservoir layers, growing media, and last but not least the vegetation layers themselves such as sedum and wildflower.
